In September 2018, my dad and I took a trip to Iceland, where I was completely overwhelmed by the beautiful and epic landscapes. Every location we visited was like another planet. Unfortunately, I only had my cell phone to take pictures, and even though I got some decent shots, I knew that I wanted something more out of photography. 

 

So, on New Year’s Day 2019, I bought a Nikon mirrorless camera, a few lenses, and booked a flight back to Iceland. Before the trip, I took some photography classes, read books, watched tons of video tutorials, and tried to learn every button on my new camera. Obviously, I was completely aware that I was just an amateur, but the pure excitement of shooting The Northern Lights, waterfalls, and ice caves with a professional camera was like nothing I had ever experienced. I knew that I had just discovered a new life long passion. I honestly believe that a picture is worth a thousand words, or can actually leave you completely speechless.
